Description
This celluloid frame features a design that exemplifies Chinoiserie and its fanciful depiction of Chinese artistic influences. The pagoda-like buildings on each side, the figure with the Chinese hat and even the stylized flowers and clouds hold elements of Chinese design versus Japanese. While the Chinoiserie style developed in the 17th century, it has enjoyed off-and-on-again popularity for more than 200 years.
Size: 5.5 inches wide, 3 inches tall.
