I love this extraordinary beaded bag. Here the celluloid frame is simplistic and other than a clever clasp (you push the top portion of the scarab’s head back to open) there’s not much detail. But the beaded bag, whose design mimics a scarab’s body, is so wonderful that it elevates this to a great purse. The only thing that would have made it better was if the frame color worked better with the beaded bag. A great Egyptian Revival piece. I love how the bead color is similar to the glaze color found on so many scarab faience pieces.

Size: 5.5 inches wide, 3.5 inches tall (frame); 6 inches wide, 7.5 inches tall (whole purse, not including handle).
Value: 8.5 out of 10, with 10 being the most expensive.
