Theme: Egyptian Revival
Description
This wonderful frame is owned by Shelley in Australia. This is a rare Egyptian Revival frame depicting Khnum (Khnemu). Khnum has a horse-like appearance, but really he had the head of the ram. While this depiction of Khnum is missing the ram’s horns, it is very similar to carvings depicting Khnum. Additionally, Khnum is the god of the Nile and fertility. He is often depicted with water and clay pots. Sometimes he is displayed creating men out of clay. In this frame the top of clay pot is worked into the design along where the curve of the frame would meet the bag.
Size: 5.5 inches wide, 4.5 inches tall (frame)
Value: 8 out of 10, with 10 being the most expensive.
